Tipping Question - Salon

I'm getting something done at the salon that's going to be in the $300 range (luckily, I received a generous gift certificate). I was wondering what you would tip on that amount. I think the general rule is 10-20%, right? So, would you tip between $30-60? It just seems like a really large tip but I don't want to offend the stylist Chat Icon

Re: Tipping Question - Salon

yeah I would go $60 if they do a good job & work it down from there. But that is just me....I used to work in a tipping industry so I tend to tip at the top or even over-tip.

I'd tip 50ish... Are all the services being received from ONE PERSON? Be sure you tip the shampoo person, the blow-out person, and your colorist. Gets complicated...

ETA: that IS if you're getting your hair done... if it's a mani/pedi/massage, tip each person that works with you.

I tip 20% for services - like it's been mentioned, break up amoung everyone that helped you.

If the GC was for a particular service, like a facial, as the receptionist if the tip was included with the GC. I add it in when I buy one like that for someone.

I would start with 20% and go from there.
