I am posting this here because I am sure many of you have received macy's gift cards when your children were born, thus making it a parenting related post.

There is a way to use a Macy's coupon and a Macy's gift card or any generic credit card gift card (Amex/Visa) with a Macy's coupon on one transaction. The dollar value remaining on the gift card must be less than the total purchase price of the items after applying the coupon.

In order to use the Macy's coupon you need to have the sales clerk scan the clothing, then apply the coupon, then give in the gift card. There must be a balance remaining and the clerk needs to use the gift card as a partial payment for the items. They must also scan the coupon multiple times for each item purchased. There must be an end balance that has to go on a Macy's charge card. I was able to do this twice today and the balance applied to my Macy's charge card was 4 cents. I was able to make the rest of the purchase on a gift card and they applied the coupon to the total transaction. I hope this helps someone else.
