Timeline To Get Ready For Baby?
Hi Everyone....
I'm new here and newly pregnant! Well, 3 months, but we just started telling everyone, so it feels new again.
I did a search for my question already, but couldn't find any answers, and thought that new moms might be a good resource for me!
Does anyone have, or know where I could find, a timeline of sorts for while you're pregnant? Like:
Month X: Register, Find a Pediatrician, etc. (I know, those don't all belong in the same month, but you get the idea)
Month Y: Put crib together, Register for Daycare, etc.
When I got married I remember there were great timeline guides about what to do when to get ready, but I can't find one for being pregnant. If you don't have one, is anyone interested in helping me compile one with your own experience?
Many thanks in advance! I've enjoyed looking at all of the photos of your adorable little ones and can't wait to meet mine in a few months!

Re: Timeline To Get Ready For Baby?
I think you'll find that it varies greatly. I am not really a timeline kind of person, though. My best suggestion is to look on the pregnancy board and see who's doing what and how far along they are.
As for me, we registered at 20 wks when we found out the sex and never interviewed a pediatrician. And who the heck remembers when we put the crib together? Mommy brain takes those details and does away with them
Anyway, that was probably no help at all, but welcome and congratulations!

Re: Timeline To Get Ready For Baby?
WELCOME, and congrats... well, the timeline thing is really up to you...as far as the nursery goes, wait until you find out what is is as far as decorating (thats usually between 18-22 weeks) and IF u plan on finding out. as far as getting the crib and all that, i know that at Buy Buy Baby, a LOT of their cribs and furniture arent there, and they say you have to wait 8-14 weeks....SO, I would def get that out of the way, just so you arent going crazy putting anything together with a big huge belly (even though the DH can do all that, I love being the one to decorate and put everything together)... I think I was maybe 34 or 35 weeks when we went to meet a pediatrician that someone recommended. We didnt eve do an interwiew, we just like his vibe, and hes 5 blocks down the street from us, so.... What else are yo curious about...?? My advice is to just have the bulk of everything done by 35 weeks, b/c you never know after that when you could go into labor! Those last 5 weeks are great, waiting for baby, so have a lot of books and sudoku and crosswords!! Anyway, we are all here to help, glad you came, you def asked the right place!

Re: Timeline To Get Ready For Baby?
oh yeah, registering...WELL, a think a lot of women have their shower at about 32-34 weeks (right ladies? i had one upstae with that family at about 34 weeks, and the local one down here for his side of the family at 37 weeks).... I think we registered at probly 25 weeks, and sent invitations at LEAST 4 weeks prior to the shower (the registering is great now too, you can add and take away from registering right online, and you can also see what people have bought already)....

welcome! I'm pretty sure some books like Baby 411 or What to Expect have outlines of somesort to give you a framework to deal with

I agree. My timeline was: 34 weeks, have a baby while simultaneously getting pediatrician recommendations 36 weeks have my shower
I wouldn't suggest it.

Re: Timeline To Get Ready For Baby?
Thank you everyone! I truly appreciate your responses. I'm thinking the best way to do this might be to make a huge to-do list and break it down from there. I just want to make sure that I don't miss anything! Which, I guess with my preggo brain is bound to happen these days anyway...
Thanks again so much and I look forward to being on this board in a few months!
