Tiling basement floor?
Does anyone know if you are able to lay tile directly on the concrete floor of a basement? Do you need some type of a subfloor? TIA

My DH is a contractor, which doesn't do anything for me b/c I try and listen when he gives me details of his work. Again... I say Try 
Anyway, we did tile our basement and did that pour-a-floor stuff first just to make sure it's even and leveled. Shouldn't have any issues putting tile right down

We have tile. We did not lay a subfloor.

A tile subfloor is a thin layer of concrete, so I would say that a thick layer of concrete should be fine...

We just did ours and had cement but the contractor did "float." He poured another level of cement to make sure the floor was level and then put the tiles down.
