Ticks?

Does anyone use anything other than Frontline to repel ticks? I had used the ointment on Katie a few years ago and she had a very bad reaction. In the past few weeks I've pulled 2 off of her. She has her lyme shots but this still worries me.
We keep the grass short and our last option would be to treat the yard but I was hoping to avioid that.

Re: Ticks?

i just spoke to my vet about this-
my dog also had a bad reaction to frontline so i refuse to use it again!

he said that frontline and advantix pretty much do the same thing but they have different ingredients so it may not bother my dog like frontline did..he said that each dog reacts differently to things....i also asked him for a more natural solution and he really couldn't recommend one...i don't have anything on my pups right now-i just check them daily...but i would love to bring them to a park and i won't until i get something to protect them.....

Re: Ticks?

Check this out: natural alternative to Frontline

That thread gives all the information I know. I'm happy to say that he is still tick and flea free. We've been in the woods, tall grass, the beach... No problems as of yet!

I am giving him double the normal dose during the "high season" like my friend suggested. She's been using it for her horses, dogs and cats for years without issue.

Once the summer is over, I'll back off to one scoop a day but continue all year, just in case.

DH does brush his teeth after his 2 meals to keep the smell to a minimum.

I hope this helps! Chat Icon
