Re: Ticket for expired inspection
I just got one of these a couple of months ago and I am sure the police officer told me that if you get the car inspected within 10 days you can mail in proof of inspection and be done with it. I'm pretty sure the info is on the on the back of the ticket!

that is exactly what I thought, but it doesn't say anything on the ticket or the town website
it was at the train station if that makes any difference...I think it was the town

Re: Ticket for expired inspection
if you get a ticket and your inspection is expired 10 days or less, you can get it inspected and send it in with your ticket.

Same thing happened to DH lately at the Babylon train station with his registration sticker. He even had the new sticker but hadn't bothered to put it on yet.

Can you just mail in proof that the car was registered on that date? Or show up in court on that day with proof that the car was registered that day?

He just needs to mail in proof (or probably show up in court, but he's mailing in proof).

Re: Ticket for expired inspection
I got this kind of ticket a month or so ago and there wasn't any way of getting out of it.
The police officer didn't say anything about me getting it inspected and sending in proof to get out of it. He just handed me the ticket and that was it.
Also, there was nothing on the ticket or the NYS DMV website saying if I showed proof of inspection within 10 days that the ticket would be reversed.
I just s*cked it up and paid the ticket.

thanks...I guess he will just pay it
I wasn't sure if that 10 thing was just an old rumor, ya know, kind of like an undercover cop having to admit it if you ask him

It might have been a ticket from Metro Police.

Re: Ticket for expired inspection
If you get the car inspected and show proof it has been done I dont think you have to pay the ticket-but I know there is a rule about how long the car was over due for the inspection
