Throwing a Surprise 60th Birthday for mom and need game ideas...

My brother and I are throwing a Surprise 60th for our mom in March. I am putting together a bunch of ideas and was trying to think of some fun games to play in the restaurant with the guests.

The guests are all family...and friends that my mother has had all, if not...most of her life.

I was thinking of definitely doing a trivia game.

Also, I was going to have all her guests email me a funny memory of my mom that I will put in a book and read some at her party.

But...what else? I'm stumped!

TIA! Chat Icon

well i guess this is trivia, maybe you can do how much certain items where 60yrs ago, like milk, bread, eggs, house, gas

or maybe what was going on in 1949

maybe top songs

who was born the same month

Ooo...I like that. Very cute. I can print it out on paper and put one at everyone's seat. I'll collect the papers toward the end of the party and read off the correct answers. Whoever has the most correct wins a prize.

Awesome! Thanks! Chat Icon

i have an idea, if its not a huge guest list.take the funny stories that the guests are sending to you...
type each one on a piece of paper. roll them up into like a scroll and tie it with ribbon. put one on each person plate. after dinner, go around and have each person read the "story" thats on their scroll.
we do this every christmas at my aunts house... but she uses jokes that she finds online. its so funny to sit around after we eat and listen to people read the jokes.
we did something similar at my bridal shower where everyone got one with a quote or joke about love/marriage. before i opened the guests present, they had to open their scroll and read the joke or quote. REALLY kept people entertained during the present opening. i did it at another shower for a friend, and it was a hit there, too!

Cute suggestions so far! I love the memory book idea. Chat Icon

I don't have anything different... I will say, just make sure you dont' do TOO many games. People generally like to relax and talk and catch up with each other at events like this... So leave plenty of time for just plain socializing, too, especially so your mom can have time to talk a little bit with each of her guests.

glad you like it!! you could also make it into more of a game, by taking out names in the story and having people guess who was involved Chat Icon like.. instead of " mom was hanging out with sally during high school when...." you could just write "mom was hanging out with a friend during high school when...." and then people hvae to guess who that friend is!! just adds another "level" to it Chat Icon
and.. i think it would be cute if each person DIDN'T get the story they sent in... make it more interesting!
