DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THRED UP!!!

They are such a scam!

I sent my bag in early June. I got confirmation that it was received late June. The website says they will take 5-10 days processing the bag once received. So that should have been early July. I didn't get my items reviewed until over a month later!!

Then, I sent in 35 items. I thought a few might get discarded of course but they only took 9 items. Yes, ONLY NINE.

And you want to know what they rejected? FOUR NEVER WORN ITEMS. I did take the tags off, because I meant to wear them. One was a beautiful motherhood maternity dress that cost me $150 and a GAP maternity shirt. I never had a chance to wear either because I ended up giving birth before I did. Why didn't they take two brand new items from reputable places? There was two other items never worn from nice places.

For the 9 items they did take, they only gave me $12. That's barely a $1 per item. I didn't expect much but with 35 items I did expect at least a $20 bill!! And plus once I cash out, they let paypal take a cut, so I will probably get less than $10 for my bag.

Disappointing.

Wow... Thanks for the review! What a horrible experience! Makes you wonder what they themselves are doing with all the extra clothes that they don't pay you for.... And at $1 per item, you'd be better off yard saleing them.

I was just going to ask the same question.... do they send the unwanted items back to you?

Terrible! I'd rather donate than deal with that nonsense. I think they even keep the stuff they say they don't want.

you can if you pay extra for it. i think 10 to 15 per bag, so i would have lost money essentially if i opted for that

I have heard terrible things about this company so I gave my bag that I was going to give to them to charity instead. I also wasn't happy with the quality of the items I bought. They were much less quality than something from Once Upon a Child(and more $ too).

Yes I saw raving posts on this forum and that's how I found out about it. Those website reviews are exactly what I said! And it's true. I wish I saw that website first. And this is why I am writing my story, so people are warned. I hate thredup!

I wouldn't doubt if they turn around and sell those items on ebay that they claim they "refused". I have never heard good things about them, and the clothing they sell is expensive for what it is.

I looked at the website after someone posted on here, and was turned off by their prices. Who would pay that much for used clothes??

Re: Thred Up

I sent in a bag earlier this year and was surprised that they didn't take what I thought was the good stuff. I got a $9 payout for my bag. Now I see why...

I do have another bag but I'm only going to send in the stuff I would've sent to Goodwill just to get rid of it.

I think they added a return service for a $10 fee so if you want your 'rejects' back, that's the way to go. I'd document your items prior to sending them in.

This when someone originally posted praising them I checked it out and posted you could buy that stuff new for less.

What a scam. You are better off selling stuff on the buy/sell groups on FB.

So they keep everything? Even things they say they don't "accept"?
But you can have them returned to you if you pay?

I donate everything to charity, and if you do a lot at once (like if you're moving or spring cleaning) you can have them itemize a bill so you can deduct the donation on taxes if you itemize. We've sometimes donated really good new stuff, but the idea of another company selling it for more than they're giving me annoys me, I'd rather someone who needs to shop at the Goodwill etc, use it.

Re: Thred Up

I had sent in a few bags earlier this year and got some good prices the last one was horrible only got 50 cents per item and most of the stuff was brand new with tags. So I decided not to send anything in the last bag I had made up and have a garage sale instead.

Exactly, I'd rather know I'm helping a needy family over getting 40 cents from a place like this!
