thoughts on this situation
The other day at my 37 week appointment my OB said the baby felt small so she wants me to go get a growth sono next week. I was wondering what the "point" of the sono would be considering if she is small, she's small, not much can be done about that. Do you think there another reason behind the sono?

Re: thoughts on this situation
If they know she is really small they may have a specialist in the room when she is born just in case.

Re: thoughts on this situation
I had this too. DD was always measuring small on sonos- like in the 25-30th percentile. My belly was also always small when they measured it- to give you an idea- the day I delivered the nurses thought I was there for pre term labor- my belly looked about 6-7 months and I was full term.
The issue with me was I had SLIGHTLY elevated BP from my 2nd tri on- which I was on a low does of BP meds for. I was tested all the time for pre-e with 24 hour urine etc- but it was always just a borderline high BP issue. So I guess in my case- their concern was she was not getting enough blood flow through the placenta and cord due to my BP. So at the end of my pregnancy I had to go for growth sonos with dopplers to measure the blood flow and weekly NSTs All always came back fine and DD was born the day before her due date at a very average 7 lbs and perfectly healthy. So they are just doing this as a precaution. if they found she wasn't getting proper blood flow or if something was causing her to not grow or get nutrients- they would have taken her early- either via C section or inducition. Luckily this was not the case for me- but Dr's have to make sure they take all precautions necessary- not only for you and the baby- put to protect themselves from malpractice lawsuits. I am sure your LO is fine!

Re: thoughts on this situation
Thanks girls. I was thinking there must be some reason that I didn't think of.
