Thoughts on taking Z Pack a/o Rhinocort when pregnant!!!!
I finally went to the doctor because my congestion is the worst is has ever been! I can not even breathe AT ALL through my nose and the congestion is in my head. It is not a sinus infection just a cold.
The doctor suggested a spray that has a steroid in it called Rhinocort and the Z Pack. I haven't decided what, if any, I am going to take. I plan on calling my OB as well. Thoughts about these meds?

I took both a ZPac and a nasal spray with steroid while I was pregnant. Both were prescribed by my primary care and my OB ok'd both. I took them in my 3rd trimester...after weeks of an awful cold, cough, upper respirtory infection. My OB was the one who demanded I see my primary care...he saw how sick I was for weeks at 2 appts.

I know the z-pack is safe as I was on that in Nov.
The nasal spray/steroid, I have no knowledge on.

I've been batteling something all week long too, but don't want to take anything except tylenol every now and then for a headache. I've been using a sinus rinse that I swear by! It really clears you out! Good luck!

what is the name of the sinus rinse? does it help at night?

my doc told me that there is no reason not to take an antibiotic while pregnant if you need it. feel better!

I took a z-pack earlier on in my pregnancy and everything is fine. I have no idea about the nasal steroid, but if your OB is ok with it, I wouldn't worry too much.

I have been taking Rhinocort with no issues.
You may want to try a neti pot or sinus rinse. I use simply saline and like it and it definitely can't hurt you. Just use it when you are not using the Rhinocort. So for example if you take Rhinocort in the evening use the saline rinse in the morning.
The baby should be fine and hopefully you will feel a lot better!

Took the Z-pac with both pregnancies, DD was fine and this one seems to be a-ok so far too!!!

I've started using this even before I got pg and it's great!!! You have to really use it a lot to start with. I use it even when I'm not sick to prevent from getting sick.

I had strep and had a take a zpack a few weeks ago.
I felt therisk from the fever from the strep was worse than any meds i had to take to get better

I had a REALLY bad sinus infection... Dr. gave me Augmentin...said it was part of a class of antibiotics that is safe. I also got Rhinocort which my husband's company sells, it is known as the only nasal steriod that is safe for use by pregnant women....take the meds and feel better!
