Thoughts about Splenda...
I cut sugar out of my diet before my wedding last summer & lost weight. Now that the HM is over trying to get fit & my co-worker claims Splenda is horrible for you. I have become so used to splenda & what to know people's thoughts on it.

Re: Thoughts about Splenda...
it is not as good for you as originally though, but if you don't use a ton of it, i don't think its so bad. i use maybe 3 packets a day. so far, another are hasn't started to grow, so i take that as a good sign

Re: Thoughts about Splenda...
I think natural sugar is probably the way to go, but I do eat some products with splenda. Everything in moderation...I guess...

MY friend told me it just has 'bad' ingredients in it & not good for you. That is why I wanted to post about it. What did you find about it???

Re: Thoughts about Splenda...
I have also hear splenda has bad ingredients. I am also confused as to what ingredient is bad-but I started using Stevia-a more natural (non-calorie) sugar. I also use regular sugar if I am in a crunch!

Re: Thoughts about Splenda...
Honestly, I think that you are better off eating natural sugar or honey. It so much better for you. I am very wary of artificial sweeteners.

Re: Thoughts about Splenda...
Since I've been pregnant, I've been using regular sugar when I have tea or coffee. I used to use Sweet and Low, then Splenda when I was on Atkins. But I too have gotten wary of artificial sweetners, and I am not planning to go back to them. I find that I am happy with things a little less sweet (I used to love my drinks very sweet!) so just a little sugar helps.

Re: Thoughts about Splenda...
This is the whole part that bugs me
"There is no question that sucralose starts off as a sugar molecule, it is what goes on in the factory that is concerning. Sucralose is a synthetic chemical that was originally cooked up in a laboratory. In the five step patented process of making sucralose, three chlorine molecules are added to a sucrose or sugar molecule. A sucrose molecule is a disaccharide that contains two single sugars bound together; glucose and fructose.
The chemical process to make sucralose alters the chemical composition of the sugar so much that it is somehow converted to a fructo-galactose molecule. This type of sugar molecule does not occur in nature and therefore your body does not possess the ability to properly metabolize it. As a result of this "unique" biochemical make-up, McNeil Nutritionals makes it's claim that Splenda is not digested or metabolized by the body, making it have zero calories.
It is not that Splenda is naturally zero calories. If your body had the capacity to metabolize it then it would no longer has zero calories."
