Thoughts
Whats everyones thought on grandparents overspoiling? What do you consider overspoiling, are you nervous either sets of parents will create a spoiled child?

Re: Thoughts
Im not concerned at all. My parents are in no position to spoil. I wish they could.
DH's parents live a little ways away so they may try, but they wont be around every day, or even week.

Re: Thoughts
This kid is going to get spoiled by both sets. Plus we have at least one member of all 4 sets of grandparents. Plus DH has 3 sisters. I'm overwhelmed just thinking about it.
My mom's parents spoiled me and my brothers growing up. We NEVER asked for anything though. We weren't demanding children. My mother read us the riot act-always say please and thank you, etc.
One thing I worry about is that MIL LOVES to bake. There are always cupcakes and cookies in the house.

Re: Thoughts
my mil will definitely spoil our kid b/c it's her first and maybe only grandchild, and she's been dying for one. My parents, not so much - they have plenty already, but they are very good to all of them.
i hope they do what my grandparents did for us - overspoil with love and affection, not material things.

Re: Thoughts
I think my parents will spoil them in the ways they can. They will be spoiled rotten with love and attention. My brother and I were spoiled by our grandparents, and still are to an extent, but we never ever asked for anything. My grandma's saying is 'you're going to get this when I'm dead, I rather see you enjoy it while I'm alive.' I think it's all a balance. To teach your children to truly appreciate the gifts they receive. I hope we are able to do that.

Re: Thoughts
I am ALL FOR IT...as long as my kids know that the grandparents spoil...but don't expect it from me or DH.
My grandmother had 4 sons...I was the 1st grandaughter/1st grandchild...needless to say, to this day, I can do no wrong. My grandma let me rollerblade on her hardwood floors, stay up late at her house when I would sleep over, etc.
It was nice to feel special, and we still have a close relationship!
