when do you call and cancel? We have verizon coming on Thurs to install fios. Do I call CV after its installed, before, the day of?

I have switched 2x.

With Cablevision I called immediately after Fios installation and told them to shut me down and that I would not pay after that date. I asked them to tell me my remaining balance so I could pay it off ASAP. No problems.

When cancelling Fios you MUST be sure to cancel all 3 services and get verification of cancelling ALL three services. I f*cked that one up and wound up with a 6 month long nightmare that caused a huge black mark on my credit (that ultimately Verizon cleared up).

When I switched to FIOS, my time warner account was active until I returned their equipment. As soon as Verizon left, I downgraded the service to the lowest plan possible and got the final balance due when I dropped the boxes off a couple of days later.

We called the day they came right after the service was installed and we knew it was working

We canceled immediately after FIOS was installed and returned the boxes that day. Cablevision told us to make sure to hold onto the receipt for the boxes b.c they screw up at lot and continue to bill you. Sure enough they tried to continue billing us but luckily we had that receipt.

Are you transferring your telephone number? If so we were told by FIOS you need to have them install before you cancel or you could lose your number.
