Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
I love Coscto. They don't have everything, but they have most of what I would want to buy in large quanities.
There meats and veggies are also very fresh!

Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
it depends on what you are buying for.
i think its over rated for a 2 person household and i dont care for their seafood. I also feel that I can get bargains on smaller quantities at other stores instead of buying in bulk.
but its great if you are having a party or buying for the office or something.
but i dont shop there everyday. mabve 1-2 times every 3 months.

I was one that panned it...I did that because I cannot stand being stuck in a building with ZERO windows. It gives me anxiety...I hate IKEA for the same reason. But, I still go to both!

Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
The variety is just terrible - they will only offer one or two brands outside of their own line....
They have random obscure items for sale (ie: capelli pasta) but not standard items (ie: zitti/spaghetti)....
Their meat, veggie, fruit section - you need to eat them as soon as you leave the store since they are not as fresh.

Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
We buy all our bulk paper goods there. I think DH eats the TP or something, this way we're not buying TP everyother day, it will last us a few months. Their bakery section is really good too.

I have never had a problem with Costco. I went to bj's on a free pass and I personally did not see anything there much different. My mom shops at Sam's and the same there too.

Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
we get our water and drinks and meats from there, plus random things like ketchup etc... the things i dont like are they dont have lowfat/non fat cheeses, and although i know its all bulk it stinks that its all big blocks of cheese b/c we are a 2 person household. i dont eat fish so dont know what to say about that...but there meat is very good and the drinks are great to buy in bulk and they have a lot of good stuff...i go about once every 1-1/2 months for bulk

Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
It depends on what you buy. I get my disposable contacts there and what I save on those pretty much pays for the membership, so it works out for me. I love going there and do have regular items I buy, but if I didn't get my contacts there, I am not sure I would keep up the membership.
If I had a house, though, I would probably buy more things there because I would have more storage to buy some things in bulk and have items for the house to buy that I don't get now (like things for the yard, paper goods for entertaining, etc.)

I have a BJ's membership and sometimes I feel I overbuy.....that's why I don't like it so much.

Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
I said BJ's was over rated, reasons:
- poor selection of items - Fruit is not as fresh as market - Aside from Milk and bread/rolls, I can get better prices elsewhere buying several smaller packages (if I even need bulk) - Have gotten diapers cheaper at BRU or Walmart with/without coupons. - several occasions cut up cheese has been moldy in bag.
I guess my biggest gripe is savings, I am still waiting to save at least the yearly membership every year.

Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
definately depnds on which location and what you buy- the one next to the source always seems packed- yet bj's nearby on brushhollow road isnt as bad---- also you have to REALLY know your prices- sometimes you can do better in the supermarket and your not paying a yearly fee---

Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
My mom goes to costco and I hated going with her because the lines were so terrible. I joined BJs and I love it. No lines and they take coupons. Costco does have more of a selection on foods but BJs has more of a selection on Baby Stuff and that is what I usually go there for.

Re: Those who said Costco was overrated...
I LOVE costco! First of all, the American Express . We get so much money back from that bad boy. It's 1% for normal purchases, but 3% for restaurants (we like to eat out a lot so this is good) and 2% for travel. Next, it is SO convenient to buy all our paper goods at Costco. We're just 2, but we buy tissues, paper towels, sandwich ziplock bags, ziplock freezer bags, toilet paper, and bottled water there. The bottled water is great, becasue it is like $5 for a pack of 35. Better than the $1 we would spend each day at the vending machine at work. If you have the storage space, then Costco is great. Plus, if you are an ever larger family, then it is even better. It's good for parties, because you can get cakes and platters that are really good. Plus, who doesn't like getting yummy samples on a Saturday morning while doing their shopping? Can you tell I love costco? One more rave and I'm done: I saved soo much last Christmas by buying their set of wrapping paper and ribbons. I didn't even finish it all, and I loved that everything I wrapped was matching, and they had all the fancy bows that usually cost $1+ each. Okay, I'm done, and I swear I don't work for Costco.
