Those who have Netflicks
DH and I are trying to find ways to cut costs around the house and since Optimum is $$$$$$$$$$$$ we are thinking of dumping all the movie channels and getting Netflicks.
I was just wondering if you liked it? How do you stream it to your TV? We don't play video games so I don't want to buy a game system just for that. Any insight would be great!
TIA

Re: Those who have Netflicks
you can get roku fairly inexpensively and stream through that. We have netflix and amazon. I prefer amazon's selection but they are pay per movie. HOwever, if you are an amazon prime member a lot movies become free.

Re: Those who have Netflicks
You can stream Netflix movies through tablets, PCs, some TVs, most new DVD and Blu-Ray players, video game consoles, and stand-alone streaming devices.
Essentially, anything that can attach to the Internet probably has Netflix streaming capability.

We Got Rid Of Cable Almost A Year Ago. We Have An Antennae And Get Hd Over The Air.WeGot a RokOku BoxAnd Get Netflix And ZAmazon Prime. We Still Get A Red Box Movie For Cheap. Honestly, We Don't Miss Cable. There Are TONS Of Shows For Ds. Shows That Are Not Even On Cable. And I Started An Online Transfer ToA Bank Account For Ds. BuildHis Trust Fund Rather Than Add To A Time Warner Big Wigs Pocket.

We got rid of cable in January and have not missed it at all. It is so easy to stream whatever you want over the internet (Hulu, Netflix) there is no reason to be paying the cable companies. We also get the occasional Redbox movie and we also reserve current movies from the library for FREE!

we've been without cable for about three years and don't miss it!!
we have netflix streaming to all the laptops in the house, through the wii, through ps3, and through roku for the old-fashioned non high definition tv.
rokus cost about $50. you plug it in like cable and then create an account. that's it. oh, and if your dog eats the remote, you can download remote apps on almost any wifi devise... don't ask me how i know.
we love all the shows and movies. it's opened a new world of documentaries for us and i love all the british tv i can watch.
it's less than $10/month and it's the best entertainment dollar we spend

Re: Those who have Netflicks
What do you guys do about Sports? It is the ONLY reason we haven't made the jump. We have the Roku, we have Netflix, Hulu and Amazon IV accounts, but DH won't give up his sports. (Yankees, Giants and Rangers games).

My DH is not really "into" sports so it is a non-issue. I did read an article about how sports fans really have no option and are forced to subscribe to cable...

I love Netflix but can't use it exclusively. I love all my shoes way too much and FH is obsessed with his sports channels.

Re: Those who have Netflicks
We have a Roku that we stream through in the bedroom and the PS3 in the living room. We have memberships to Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. Even with memberships to all three and our wireless internet bill, we're saving about $200 a month by getting rid of cable. I don't miss it even a little bit. Sometimes DH misses out on the sports, but he usually goes out for them anyway. And besides, I wouldn't be surprised if more sports networks jump on the streaming bandwagon really soon! I truly believe cable is going to be obsolete VERY soon.
ETA: We use the most basic Roku player (I believe it's the XS) and it was $50, no monthly fees. It was such a good buy that I got them for Christmas gifts for people and they loved them!
