Re: Those who have been to Costa Rica

We went to Costa Rica for our honeymoon last summer. This is a copy of my review
We decided on Costa Rica because of the wildlife, the Costa Rican people and we love rice and beans. We knew it was green season and we knew that it was a Rainforest so we knew that rain would be expected. But we were pleasantly surprised that we got little to no rain on most days. The rain in Arenal was like silk. And the Rain in Puerto Viejo was a cool welcome. And it mostly occurred in the middle of the night. One night it rained so hard and it felt as if the thunder was coming from my room.
For the First 2 night's we stayed in Arenal at the Arenal Nayara and that was amazing!!! The perfect start to our honeymoon. They had a driver pick us up at the airport and upon check in they greeted us with fresh juice and cool towels. They took us to our room that had fresh flowers and towels made into swans. They also gave us a bottle of champagne and fresh fruit. They had a swim up bar in the VERY warm pool and a hidden hot tub in the back of the property. Our room had a hot tub on the back porch that overlooked the volcano. We should have stayed there 3 nights instead of 2.
On our one full day in arenal we did the hanging bridges tour. On the way we saw a sloth and during we saw monkeys in the distance, red dart frog up close and lots of leaf cutter ants. That afternoon we took a taxi into town and had a typical Costa Rican lunch at a restaurant suggested by our guide.
On the 3rd day Exploradore Outdoors picked us up and we rafted the Pacuare River. That was the highlight of our trip. Our guide, Ricky had complete control of our raft, was great with instruction, and knew the river like the back of his hand. Partway down the river we stopped and were served a complete lunch. After the rafing they drove us to our next destination.
We stayed at Banana Azul for the next 5 nights. It was right in the beach and we could hear the sea at night. The sea is beautiful and a little rough. But don’t go to Costa Rica if you are going for turquoise water because you won’t find it there. It was clear and nice to swim in. We went snorkeling and saw lots of bright fish and coral.
We did a rainforest hike and swam under a waterfall. That felt very good on my sore back from the rafting trip. We also went to the animal sanctuary and were able to hold monkeys and pet sloths. I put a monkey to sleep on my arms. We went on another hike through Cahuita national park and saw sloths, monkeys, eyelash pit viper snake, a raccoon, iguanas, blue crabs and lots of spiders.
Another thing we did was rent a bicycle for the day and rode into town had lunch then we rode past town and swam at Punta Uva, where the water was a little calmer. Puerto Viejo was really hot. Hot in a way I have never known. When I was in the sun I was dripping with sweat. Like in the movies when you see the Spanish people in dry lands with beads of sweat all over their skin. Kind of sexy, though. The pool at Banana Azul was not very warm but that was great at points I could not wait to get my body in it.
he last night we took interbus into San Jose where we were flying out of and stayed at Casa Bella Rita. That day was the most relaxing day of them all. We sat by there pool and read magazines and I took a nap. They cooked a marvelous steak dinner for us that night. There food was delicious!!! Rita and Steve also provided us with transportation to the airport t the next morning.
All of our travel arrangements were made by Marina the Travel Experta. She got us some discounts on lodging and tours.
