Those Who Gave Up Smoking...

Are you having a hard time with it?

I feel like a crazy person. I feel more moody than a normal pregnant woman. It doesn't help that I had to cut my 6-cups-of-coffee-a-day habit down to one cup. Between the two it makes each day draaaaaag.

Has anyone found anything that helps take your mind off it?

With DD1 we were trying, so I had quit prior to getting pregnant. This time, it was a bit of a surprise so quit as soon as we found out, but I've been craving one the ENTIRE time! It doesn't help that DH smokes! It's been so hard!!

I quit smoking the day I found out I was pregnant with DD in 2006 and haven't smoked since, strange thing is that I didn't have any cravings at all and got over it like it was nothing. Maybe it was bc I only smoked 1 maybe 2 cigarettes a day and I was a smoker for maybe 2 years.

Oh and DH -even though he was never a big smoker, maybe 1-5 cigarettes a week - quit smoking with me , so that helped a lot.
He hasn't smoked since .

Re: Those Who Gave Up Smoking...

I wish it was that easy, you're lucky!

I stopped when I was pregnant with DD in 2006 but I started again once I wasn't pumping for her anymore.

I smoked a pack a day since I was 17 (13 years), so it's really hard.

I wish there was a way to keep my mind off itChat Icon

I don't smoke but I just wanted to say good for you guys!! DH used to smoke a pack a day, stopped for a year and a half and now has a cigarette or two a week. Its SUCH a hard habit to break.

I totally commend you guys for stopping and dealing with the hormones! Chat Icon Chat Icon

I feel your pain! My husband still smokes and it makes it very hard. People tell me I should just use pregnancy as my reason to quit, but I enjoy smoking. I will quit eventually but the first few years of motherhood is not the time for me.

Re: Those Who Gave Up Smoking...

I hate to say it but the only thing that made it easier was when my morning sickness kicked in! lol
Good luck - I know how tough it is.

Re: Those Who Gave Up Smoking...

I quit when I got my BFP- Sept 11 and I hate to say it, but all these months later and I still get cravings. What worked for me was chewing a lot of minty gum. And like Bear said- when I got morning sickness- I couldn't even think about cigarette smoke without gagging. I know how hard it is...Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
