Those things that people do...
You know like those nervous twitches where they clear their throat or cough every 2 minutes or so.
It bothers me to no end.
I sit next to a man that does this ALL DAY LONG .
It drives me bananas.

my assistant is always ill....he has this wretched cough that sounds ill to my core...it's nasty as hell. then he'll cough and go right into a hum. It's oddly insane.

Listen to what I said the 1st time jackass. I hate that too. I dont like repeating myself. I feel like I'm CONSTANTLY doing it. And before anyone says that maybe he really cant hear me- believe me. Its one of those habits that I cant stand when people do it.

i have a co-worker that sits behind me and is sick 365 days a year, and she is ALWAYS clearing her throat. all i hear all day is "eh, eh, eh eh, eh." stupid whimpy little hacks.
i so feel your pain.

OMG LMAO--that is weird!
My DH's friend always hums to himself when he is uncomfortable-and he is ALWAYS uncomfortable-if I poass him in the hallway in my house-he hums. If I am doing dishes and he has a dirty one-he hums

When people say "WHAT" like a squaking bird, and then answer you before you repeat the question. You obviously heard what I said why did you say what
I hate when its silent during a meal, and you can hear someone lip smacking, it makes my skin crawl
nervous whistlers....enough said

I have a cough lately and can't help it.  I don't do it year-round, but something's in me today making me cough. I keep thinking I'll wake up really sick one of these days, but I haven't.
I fully undersand if people with offices near me want to kill me today.

Saying "what" like that when they DID hear you is a very good indication that the person is about to lie to you. Subconsciously, they may be biding for more time to come up with their response. 
My DH's nephew does this (at 3) -- b/c his father is VERY hard of hearing and never wears his hearing aids -- so he says "what?" a lot when people talk to him. The kids thinks that is what you're SUPPOSED to say when people talk to you. (They're working on it...)
