Those that have had IVF
What was your Antral follicle count and how many eggs did they retrieve?

Re: Those that have had IVF
My first IVF I had around 30 follicles and 9 eggs.
My second IVF I had around 50 follicles and 30 eggs.

Re: Those that have had IVF
Okay. So my Antral count was 9 this month, so does that mean I would only get 5 eggs?

There's no way to tell ... I just wouldn't expect to get the same number of eggs as you have follicles.... Honestly, I would go in with no expectations and just hope for the best! Or, as I've come to learn... Expect the unexpected!

I am so trying to calm myself down. The low AMH and the DOR dx has gotten me really upset. I am just hoping for 4 eggs if I do IVF in January.

Re: Those that have had IVF
My antral count was lower than the # of eggs they retrieved since a few caught up. However, not all were mature, so my antral count was basically spot on to the number of mature eggs.

Re: Those that have had IVF
I think it doesn't matter what this says...it all comes down to quality of the embryos. I've seen people with tons of embryos and negative results and I've seen people with only one embryo and it works! We always want the best possible chance for ourselves but just don't focus on this. Most RE's don't even bother with those numbers etc...
I'll tell a quick story that I always tell when someone brings this subject up. My friend was told her's was very low. She was so upset. IUI #1 failed, so they told her to go straight to IVF, because time is running out (think she was at Columbia in NYC...I don't know anyone else that went there). IVF#1 failed. It think she had 2 embryos to transfer on 3dt. They cancelled IVF#2 because of a cyst. She was really upset. Well, she gets pregnant that cycle naturally. She gives birth and gets pregnant right away and now has two adorable DC. So so much for that AMH/DOR testing. I mean, yes, this is a unique story. But, she was told the worst and it turned out great in my book. You just never know what is going to happen, so no sense driving yourself crazy.

Thank you for the optimism. It really helps hearing stories like this. My RE told me a story similar.
I just never expected to be dealing with DOR. I thought it was strictly MFI.

Those that have had IVF
I had 14 mature follicle day of retrieval and ended up with 26 eggs. All 26 fertilized and ultimately we ended up with 12 good quality embryos, quality vz quantity is the best way. God luck!!!!

Day of retrieval I had 9 eggs/ 8 fertilized, which I was told is in the normal range. Remember in average your body only has 1 good egg per cycle (12 per year). You rather have less mature eggs than a ton of immature eggs. Like the pp said quality over quantity!!
