those of you who swaddled and now don't
I know this has been discussed before but I'm need to lose the swaddle. I woke up this morning and Parker was rolled into her bumper and couldn't roll back because of the swaddle. I almost died. I need to get rid of it ASAP and I'm not sure how. Any advice? I tried today for her nap and she just was up the entire time crying on and off. I really don't want her to be up all night either. She gets sooooooo crabby without her sleep.
Please help.

omg how scary!!! when we stopped swaddling sydney it was pretty much cold turkey. she kept busting her arm out so we stopped....maybe you could try swaddling parker from the waste down... or leaving one arm in and one out.... that way you can gradually stop it but she will still feel secure.

If you don't want to totally stop swaddling then just swaddle loosely at first so that you DC can move around if necessary. my DD was swaddled up through her 7th month and we just had to stop cold turkey. It was rough for about 2 weeks on and off until she learned to sleep w/o it.
 - I remember how rough it was for us. Good luck!

I just stopped one day around 3-4 months because he just kept breaking out anyway and he didnt miss it at all.

We just stopped cold turkey. The first 2 nights sleeping were a little rough, but then it was fine.

What about trying a sleeping bag...her arms would be free but she would be in a bag, so she might feel lovely and secure. Noah sleeps in a sleeping bag and he always has lovely toasty feets in the morning!!

my dd just ended up kicking them off of her...she hated it..but i put her in those sleep sacks..and she loves them...they are pretty much considered a safe blanket..they are awesome..its close enough to a swaddle..good luck

We kept swaddling her after rolling but made it loose enough so that during sleep she could get her arms out but she started out with them tucked in.
What about just taking out the bumpers? or get breathable bumpers?

I think once they can roll you have to unswaddle their arms. A baby could suffocate if it rolls over and can't roll back because their arms are by their side.

Thank you all for the advice. I def want to get rid of the swaddle all together. It's time. I'm going to get a few of those sleep sacks and start with that.

I have to give my husband credit for getting this done for us. We swaddled till about 7 months? I know, a long time. The good news is, he did well very soon being unwrapped. The first night, we did CIO, going in every 5 minutes to reassure him and rub his belly/back. That lasted 2 hours. The next night, same thing, except went in every 10 minutes. That only lasted 40 minutes. By the third night we went in at 15 minutes and only had to go in once. It is SO hard to listen to the crying! But I'm so glad we did it now, and he's sleeping longer and puts himself back to sleep most times if he wakes up. Naps were tricky, that took a few times too.
