This poor bird....UPDATE!!!
I noticed yesterday that there was this small (not quite a baby..a little older) bluejay hanging around on the side of my house. I went out to check him out because he was there for awhile. I brought him so bread but my dog wound up eating it
Anyway he was hopping away from me and tried to fly but couldnt.
When I told DH about it he said he noticed it in the mrning. Now he is still there just hopping around. I feel bad. DH just laughs at me because he said we have too many birds in our yard, and hopefully te dog will find it
What can I do?? Or am I just being silly over a blue jay??

I just made a nest for a baby bird & put it back in the tree, so I can't say you're being silly.

 Once on campus I saw a hawk take a baby bird out of a nest and drop it. So I called our animal care services and they called someone to take it and take care of it. But that was on a campus, so it was easy to get hold of the vet to figure out what to do. Good luck! I love birds so I think you are totally right to want to do something.

When I had to take my Mom's dog to the emergency vet on Old Country Road in Westbury the woman behind the desk was telling me that they take wild animals all the time free of charge.
Maybe you could call one of the emergency vets by you and see if they can help.

We had a baby blue jay fall out of a nest 4 times last year. I found it on the ground upside down just squawking, I cried my eyes out. DH put it back in (all 4 times)and we never saw it again, I tell myself the parents came and fed it and it flew away. It was getting its feathers in when we found it. We put it in a hanging basket back up in the tree with sticks and leaves. When we took the basket down months later it was empty. DH couldnot believe I cried over a baby bird, he has no clue .

it was really nice of you to try to save it, but if I were you, I would make sure that the dead bird was far away from your house, kids and dog. They carry bird mites!
