I'm just curious....
How can the drs see that your cervix is fully closed or opening? Like if ur early on how would they know....is it by an internal only? I've always wondered if somehow they can see it thru the sonogram.
....sorry for the dumb question.

They measured mine at my 12w NT Scan and 20w Anatomy Scan by doing an internal sono. I think that's the only way for them to tell.

Re: This may be a stupid question....regarding the cervix...
I know the doctor can tell on the internal, but I have no idea how. I guess he can see the cervix? I know on my level 2 sonogram they did a little test when they did the transvaginal ultrasound the had the ultrasound going and then pressed on my stomach (pretty hard) and the machine was on the screen where you can see blood/air movement. They checked to make sure that when they pressed their was no leaking of the fluid into my cervix. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it clearly, but they can tell by looking at it via a transvaginal sonogram too. I think by measuring how long it is.

they can check w/ an internal sonogram.
i have it done every 2 weeks b/c of the leep procedure i had about 10 yrs ago. they need to make sure it is still long and plump. so far no problems!!! if at my 28 wk sono it is still good, i'll be done w/ the internal sonos for a while! woohoo!!!
