this just made my day!
so for as long as Dh and i have talked about our future children hes always said first boy will be named after him and i never really had a problem with it since its a family thing.
now that we're expecting i dont necessarily like the idea of having my husband and (potential) son being named the same thing.. i was afraid to bring it up in hope to avoid an argument.
anyway i brought it up to DH and he was Ok with the idea of possibly using a different name! im so HAPPY that he's at least thinking about it!!

That's very good. There is a tradition in my DH's family too that if a son is born that the father's first name will be the middle name. My DH's middle name is Kenneth and so our DS (possibly) would have a middle name of Jacob.
Gotta love the traditions....

yes - my family is the same as the PP - my dad was a Jr and hated it....so his first name is my brothers' middle name and it will be our childs' middle name as well...
try that angle!!!!

thats a smart husband! a happy preggo is a happy family LOL.....I've always hated the idea of having a little robert or robert jr...he thankfully feels the same way! we will use his name for one of hte boys middle names though....

took the words right out of my mouth..
i love the name nicholas (nick) and im greatful that its my DHs name and if it wasnt i would name my DC that but im not against it being dc middle name!
