I would never wear it but I don't hate it as much as I think I should. I don't know if that makes sense though.

Yeah-- I think that makes sense. It's more silly than ugly. It doesn't offend me, but I don't see the point. 
(but I don't like ankle boots anyway! )

I could never pull this off but I would love to just see them on someone. I can see them with a long simple dress almost like a prairie dress but long and casual. they do look stupid in the picture. I am confused about them!
BTW who even makes these? What designer?
