As an accent wall or accent piece- yes.
For a whole room on all the walls- no.

i like the concept but not the color combination. JMO but i would opt for more for a burgandy/red palette. not a huge fan of purple.

That's the color of my carpet (there when we moved in and new so we kept it). The walls were a grey-purple so I made them beige and I have to say that so far it works - we forget the carpet is purple sometime.
I agree - for an accent I think it might work but for a whole wall - not so sure.
