Thinking about moving OOS--Where to begin with selling/renting current house?

My DH and I are thinking about moving OOS. We are in the process of looking for jobs in the new city. For housing, we would just rent until we knew for sure the area we wanted to live.

But...what do we do about our current house?

Should we rent it? If so, is it possible to rent it out for almost as much as my mortgage?

Should we sell it? With the current market, we may not be able to sell it and breakeven.

I just don't know where to start.

if you could rent it to cover your expenses- who would be the property manager? as an out of state landlord- you are going to need to make repairs etc to the home

selling it is probably the better option in the long run

your first step would be to get a market anayslis done from a realtor

If I could rent it, the property manager would be my Father since he lives in the same town.

We are in this situation except that DH already has a job in our new city to be.

We are still trying to figure out what to do. GL!!!

You are going to have a difficult time getting a mortgage on a second house if you are renting a house that is underwater.

Make sure your father is aware he may have to pick up the phone at 2am from a tenant if there is a leak in the house and he will be expected to act on it immediately.
