Thesarus Help -

I need another word for arouse and channel.

Like channeling behavior or channeling enegery ...

Here's the sentence: "... will arouse and channel behavior towards their goals."

The Microspft Word thesarus isn't helping at all.

Re: Thesarus Help -

Does this sound right?

These factors are within each individual and will stimulate and drive behavior towards their goals.

Re: Thesarus Help -

I tried Thesaurus.com

For Arouse:
agitate, alert, animate, awaken, call, challenge, electrify, enliven, entice, fire up, foment, foster, goad, heat up, incite, inflame, instigate, kindle, move, provoke, rally, rouse, send, spark, spur, stimulate, stir, thrill, turn on, wake up, waken, warm, whet, whip up, work up

For Channel:
carry, conduct, convey, direct, funnel, pipe, route, send, siphon, traject, transmit, transport

There were other results if none of those help...

Re: Thesarus Help -

In that sentence, I might use direct in place of channel and initiate in place of arouse.

ETA: Your second sentence sounds fine to me Chat Icon

Here's the paragraph, let me know if it's too much.

The first Career Strategies seminar of 2006, kicked off with this very topic. Passion is defined as a powerful emotion or strong feeling while Motivation is defined as a goal-directed behavior. These factors are within each individual and will stimulate the passion needed and direct motivational behavior towards their goals.

I'd take the comma out of the first sentence, and in the second sentence would make the M in motivation lower case. I would change These factors are to These characteristics exist, and would get rid of will stimulate to just stimulate so it is an active instead of a passive.

These characteristics exist within each individual and stimulate the passion needed and direct motivational behavior towards their goals.

But it's a little redundant...Passion stimulates passion needed towards their goals? I'd make the final sentence something like "Igniting the passion within each employee helps both the employee and organization effectively reach and achieve goals."

Re: Thesarus Help -

I like it and appreciate you help. I thought it was a bit redundant too - but I want to be as clear as possible.

The last sentence won't work though because I am writing it for employees only - assistants at that - and so I am speaking about finding their inner passion and motivation - not so much the organization's goals. I'm going to try to reword your last sentence a bit.

Thanks!!!!! Chat Icon
