Thermometers
Anyone have one they love? DS is 6 mo and I feel like I can't get a good read on the Braun ear thermometer.

Thermometers
My ped says the ear thermometers are not very accurate.
They reccomend a rectal temp to be really really accurate or a temporal scanner

I don't think DS would sit still enough to get a rectal!

Re: Thermometers
The Vicks rectal thermometer is very easy and not at all scary to use! It is quick, and you can't put it in too far.

This is the one I used when DD was a baby. It only takes a few seconds. I also have the temporal one and the ear one, since I am neurotic I use all 3 just to make sure.

I swore by this thermometer when my kids were infants. It was easy to use and FAST! Once they got to be around 12 months or so, I started using an ear thermometer. We use the Braun and haven't had any issues. I didn't like to use the ear thermometer when they were babies. I felt the rectal was much more accurate at that age. Plus I felt like the ear thermometer was almost too big for their tiny ears, lol

Re: Thermometers
We use the Exergen Temporal Infrared one. It's super easy, and my ped's office uses it as well.

Re: Thermometers
Rectal is the most accurate in any child under 3. The temporal ones that the dr's use are not made like the ones we buy in the store. I have never gotten an accurate reading off of the temporal thermometer or any other thermometer except a rectal. I have one that is really fast. DS is 4 and I am still using it! He spikes high fevers out of the blue and I need a real reading!!! The temporal one always says he is 101 when he is really over 103-104!!

Re: Thermometers
I love the Vicks rectal thermometer. I actually have to buy another one bc I got water in mine! Rectal is the most accurate. That's what my peds want too.
