Thermometer giving me different readings
I have the summer 3 in 1 thermometer and I've been taking DS's temperature rectally. But every time I do it, I get a different reading.
For example, I just did it 3 times in a row and it was 100.6, 99.6, and 99.9. Which one do I go by? Its a big difference!
Thanks!

How old is DC? That makes a difference. If your DC was hot before you took off their clothes, then the first temp will be higher. Their body cools down as it is exposed to the air. I have done this too. Wait five minutes and try again.

Re: Thermometer giving me different readings
He's 8 1/2 months...I took it while changing his diaper.
I'm wondering if it could be the thermometer...is it normal to have such different readings three times in a row? This happens all the time to me.

Don't take it 3 times in a row. He is probably getting agitated which can change the temp.
Wait 10 min. and take it again. Either way, 100.6 is barely a fever. It could be from teething.

Re: Thermometer giving me different readings
At that age, 100.6 isn't considered a fever. DS had a 101.8 last month and the dr. wasn't worried about it. It is probably from teething. DS has been running a low grade fever at night all week. he is teething like mad.
