There are days like today that I really despise LIPA!
This is what I just sent their customer service through email after speaking with a service rep on the phone.
"We had a CAC system installed in our home this past summer. I have been calling the LIPA number listed on the Cool Homes section of your web site since about late summer and I keep getting the same answer. "We received too many applications for the rebates this year and we are short handed and unable to keep up with the requests." My application for my house was submitted on August 22 from US Air Conditioning and it is now December 29. I just called the information line again and for the 5th or 6th time now, I was given the same answer as stated above. I asked if there was any likelihood that our application would be processed before the end of January and they said it was too soon to tell! This is utterly ridiculous! We are in a recession and these rebates were a prime reason many LI families went with an energy efficient/acceptable vendor and it's LIPA that holds up our rebates! We are not talking mere pennies in a rebate here - some of this money will be used to pay off bills, so we can get out of debt and the fact that it is taking your customer care center over 4 months to process an application is unheard of! I would appreciate a response back as to when LIPA will be making an effort to help those of us in this rebate struggle!

I'm just mad b/c DH and I had thought this check would have been in our hands by the end of the year.

good for you for speaking up, even if they aren't getting back to you!
i'd keep bugging them until i got an answer..so many times i let stuff slide, but i'm tired of it, and have been sending scathing letters left and right.

See if there is some kind of public service sommision that regulates LIPA. You can complain to them. I know Verizon has one since they are still considered a utility. That usually gets them in gear!

do you have acess to their website? if so they might have a phone number on there to call in stuff. I think people do it all the time. I'll look and see if I see anything
