The whining!

My 3 year old is in a whining phase. Everything! When I think he's happy one tiny thing can set him off. I give him the red cup, but he wanted the blue cup.
He wants to go upstairs so we go then he just whines to go downstairs.
I tell him to use his words, tell him I can't hear or understand whining. I praise him when he asks nicely and uses his words and make an example that b.c he asked nicely he was able to get... Such and such

He is going to ESY... Extended school year for preschool to get extra help with speech and OT since EI ended. He has some expressive delays so when he gets real frustrated he screams at the top of his lungs, which is not fun.
Not sure if I'm looking for advise or just hugs. Lol. I know its also the age. Just frustrating. Oh, and he's a saint in school and usually with other people. Mostly takes out his frutration on me. For ex... We had neighbors over last weekend. The girl splashed him too much. He just cried a bit and asked for mommy. He wasn't hysterical or anything. Came to me and banged his head on my shoulder a few times then back to playing eith everyone else like he was perfect.

Re: The whining!

Yep.
All DD does is whine.
Sometimes she whines for no reason- I really think she just likes to hear herself whine.

She will whine when she wants something- even if it's something she knows how to ask for.

She wakes up whining. No joke.
She whines herself to sleep.

It's totally the age thing. The ages of 2 and 3 must be whine country age!
LOL

So true. Its nonstop whining and DS also wakes up whining. His 11 month old brother never whines or cries. Hopefully he stays that way.
Last night he went to sleep early. Of course whined too so as soon as he went to sleep mommy opened her wine. Chat Icon Chat Icon

The whining!

whining really drives me nuts! DD is 26months old and most days she is fine, then some days she whines from the second she wakes up until she falls asleep and if i wasn't pregnant, i'd be drinking heavily! Chat Icon

Re: The whining!

DS does this every so often. It literally drives me bonkers. The other day we were at trader joes and he was whining that he wants to go home for about 30 minutes no stop all he was saying was "I want to go home....mom I want to go home...I just want to go home!" Nothing I was saying or doing was stopping him from this long winded whine. As soon as we got home, he started whining that he wanted to go out. Chat Icon

Re: The whining!

All I hear all day long is whining. Whining whining whining. I try to tune it out but when one stops the other starts. Or they both do it at the same time.
