The neverending... fever
DS was sick last weekend with a fever and light cough. Took him to the peds on Monday and she thought croup. Put him on meds and nebulizer. He was doing better and out by Wednesday to go to school. Seemed fine Wed and Thursday and then last night he woke up feeling a little warm. Nothing crazy, but I was assuming it's the end of the cough. It seemed to of turned into a little cold. Still doing the nebulizer. He just got home and took his temp and it said 100.3 in 1 ear and 100.8 in the other. He is always warm and I know he was outside a lot. I can't imagine now why he is still warm. He is tired, but he hardly slept last night bc he was congested. Just wondering if I should take him back to the Doc or it's the end of whatever he had or what.

Re: The neverending... fever
I don't think it fully ever left his system. Even when they break a fever a feel like kids need a few days to recoup. Him going back to school may have stirred up everything again OR since his immune system was down, someone in the class may be carrying something and he caught it.
DD#2 has a low grade fever today and a cough. I guess stuff is going around.

Took him back to the peds and he said looks like a virus he caught. Everything was clear so keeping an eye on it. Didn't care for the first doc we saw Monday anyway so glad we went back.

Re: The neverending... fever
We had the same situation with DS and they thought it was croup but then last night he had a fever and was coughing again. Took him back to the ped and it ended up being bronchitis.

I remember you saying that on my last post. That's why I took him to the Ped again just incase it was bronchitis. Doc said everything was clear so feel better about that. Thanks

Re: The neverending... fever
My 7 yo DD just went through a similar virus for 10 days, only she had high fevers (103-105), lethargy and loss of appetite.
Her ped ran a few tests (chest xray, 2 urine tests/cultures and bloodwork) and everything came back negative. Apparently it was just a virus and on the 10th day the fever was gone and she was eating. Odd thing is no one else in our household caught it, which is why I was having a hard time believing it was a virus.

The neverending... fever
We just went through the same thing. DS had a high fever the first weekend in June that lasted until the Wednesday after. I had him at the doctor twice, and was told it was just a virus. He had another fever Monday, had him again at the doctor two times this week, told it was viral, they ran a urinalysis that came back clear...he broke out in a Roseola rash today.

Re: The neverending... fever
Sounds like what my DD had but we don't do those meds for croup. DD had strep. Several other kids in her class had the same thing. I would go back if he has a fever several days later. Could also be an infection.
