The money your DC has in their savings account?
Do you plan on using it for their college or giving it to them? If you are giving it to them at what age?

Any money my kids get goes into their 529 plans, we don't have separate savings accounts for them. Call me mean, but they'll thank me when they're 22 and student loan free!!

We have a 529 that we contribute to and that gifts go into. I also have some money ina savings account that I will add a little at a time to. One day he is going to want to buy Ninetndo 55.0 or a car and I want him to have money available for himself.

I have to agree with you! My mom gave me my savings when I graduated from college (seperate money from a college fund) and you can guess what it went to...beer! That would be a nice little chunk of a down payment right now!

depends on the amount I guesss and if they really needed it. My parent made the mistake of allowing me access to mine as a child and I think that contributed to my non saving way of thinking
