I do not know if this was posted, but does anyone know what is going to be of the area when they are done? Or do they not know yet?

They don't know yet. They have been "deciding" since 1997. Problem is, even with the few buildings they are demolishing there are still HUNDREDS of other buildings and underground tunnels joining those buildings that are FILLED with asbestos. Two things have been the hang up here, 1) The state doesn't want to pay for the asbestos clean up before someone buys the land and demolishes the buildings and vice versa, developers want the state to clean up first and they take it from there.
The other part is the town, it is a small tight knit community and the people do not want it developed and to cause congestion in a town where really the old main road in and out is 25A.

I was just saying to DH tonight, that if they built housing on that land you couldn't pay me a billion dollars to live there.

I always think of that movie, the house on haunted hill, where they did all these crazy experiments on psych patients in the basement.

The challenge is that the developers who would work the land drop out because the state insists that they do the abatement. WIth all the asbestos in that joint, the cost is just absolutely prohibitive.
I really hope they make it a park or gardens rather than more housing/shopping, etc.. I really enjoy the hike/bike trail there.
