the inspiration for the "how do you rate yourself thread"
was the Gisele Bundchen thread on celeb gossip.
I was surprised how quick people were to call her average.
it made me think if we were as hard on ourselves, or harder.
I actually think I am prettier than Gisele. And I don't really want to be that thin with very little in the way of curvature.
but I don't think the girl is average. not by a long shot. but of course, that is just my opinion.
Please...this really is NOT celeb gossip, ok!

like I said before, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
and the amazing thing in this world, is that there are so many different flavors in the world, that at least someone is bound to try you.

There are many models who have the full body physiques for modeling but their faces are not what people would consider a classic beauty. However, with make up and exotic locations, models need not have that look (face-wise) anymore.
When I think of a classic beauty, I think of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly of years past and today I would think of perhaps a Catherine Zeta-Jones and maybe a Kate Walsh - not model beauty, but more classic.

yes, I think I was above average.
average is what you see in abundance every day. I don't think I fall into that category.
and judging from what people tell me, I don't.
so it's not just me smoking the good stuff and getting high on myself.
but Tany is right. there are many flavors.
you might think I am fugs...or even (gasp) average if you saw me.
I am as average as Gisele.

totalllllllllly agree! i think when u think model u think that person has to blow everyonnnnnnnnnne out of the water with their beauty bc hey they have makeup artists to nutritionists to trainers working on that a$$ sooooooooo maybe thats why we're so critical of their beauty bc i think its much harder to look classically beautiful bc those girls were born with it

ITA agree! There are a lot of models out there that have the model body, but not the most beautiful faces in the world. Some have both - but it doesn't seem to be a reuqirement these days.

IMO, with models it is mostly about the height and body. the face is secondary. there are many super models out there who aren't "stunning".

I would never throw Gisele outta my bed!!!! To me, she is the ultimate in beauty.
I think she has the most amazing pair of legs, and I probably would go to drastic measures to obtain gams like that.
That does not mean I consider myself to be just average. I have had my fair share of compliments and I do take them for what they are worth!

right.
but models are still not average. whatever makes them "special" different unique...they (at least the BIG ones) are not "average"
one of the definitions of "average" is common/normal.
a 5/9 or taller woman with a very slim frame is not that common.

When I addressed the topic, I had been thinking specifically of Alek Wek. She has a different kind of beauty - far from classic but quite stunning:
