The great, strange mystery of the husband brain....

Bear with me - its long - but I need to set up the scenario here for you...

So, Cailen has been having some crying fits lately as I posted yesterday, and DH still has been sick, plus, I decided that this is the week I'm breaking him of sleeping in the swing and going into the bassinet, so even though on the weekends we're allowed back in the bedroom and not exiled in the living room, we knew he'd be up and crying a lot over night, so I put blankets under his bassinet mattress, and camped out again in the living room (BTW - it was very successful!)

Cailen woke up in an ok mood, but he ranges from screaming to smiling, and he was up at 5... DH came downstairs around 8AM. By that time I have already been up for 3 hours, and feeling sleepy... My stepdaughters are over this weekend, so he always goes out to get bagels and coffee for us, which I understand needs to be done, but I always look forward to sat. mornings for help, and he always disappears with stuff like this.

Anyway - after breakfast, DH asks me if I would like him to take Cailen when he drives his older daughter to work in Locust Valley - I didn't hesitate - I said yes (feeling a little guilty) - but the house looks like a cyclone hit it between camping out downstairs, and just no one cleaning for the week - if I dont do it, no one does - so I was going to spend time ckleaning (I'm taking a break right now! So, I'm with Cailen the whole time while DH tools around on the computer, watches TV, etc...

Megan is ready for work, and DH says to me - "You still want me to take him, right?

ME: "Uh... Yeah!"

DH: "Is he ready to go?"

Cailen is still in his onesie he slept in - with formula and drool all over it...

ME: "No..."

DH: "Well, you need to get him ready if you want me to take him off your hands"

I proceed to tell him that HE is a parent too, and he is responsible for getting him ready if he is going to take him out. I also told him he is NOT taking him off my hands - how many times have I taken Cailen with me when I drove Megan to work...

I don't get it. If I'm taking him out, I get him ready. I do everything with Cailen... what does DH expect from me???? And its not like he is taking him off my hands so I can sit on my fat a s s and eat friggin bon bons.... I am cleaning this house from top to bottom so it doesn't look like a crack house....

2 days before our 1st anniversary, and I'm ready to throttle him...

ETA - DH DID get him ready - Cailen even had a poop for him (way to go Cailen!! Mommy's little angel!!!Chat Icon ) - I peeked to see what outfit he was putting him in. And bit my tongue. Chat Icon )

Then, Megan still had to run in from the car and say - "Oh - daddy needs you to make a bottle!"

I have one for you, earlier this week I went grocery shopping, I come home and DH is sitting feeding Christopher. He says "his diaper leaked and he peed on my shirt, see?". I go, "oh I'm sorry, did he have a poop in his diaper too?" He goes "Oh I didn't change him"

So he pees on you and you don't change the diaper???Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I know that's right up there with "I'll babysit!" Um, no...he's your baby too.

My DH was like that for the first year. He learned slowly but surely.
