I love the Flaming Lips. The Soft Bulletin is one of the most amazing records ever. We have seen them live maybe 3 times, they do a fantastic live show where they get audience members up on stage dressed in big furry costumes. The lead singer Wayne Coyne is a genius. They have a few copycats out there (see Polyphonic Spree)
I love the Lips.
eta...they do a song called Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots and its about a Japanese fan of the Lips who committed suicide, it was really tragic and I think its a beautiful song.

I think Vaseline was a hit on alternative radio in the mid 90's. I don't think any of their stuff would be played on the radio in the states on a regular basis at the moment. They are really popular here in the UK...they tour constantly and sell lots of records.
