I have MTHFR with other clotting issues and I was told I could not be on the pill. Not sure if it were the MTHFR alone that would be the case..but I would imagine so.

I have MTHFR (2 copies) along with lots of other clotting issues and I was told this as well.

Do you mind me asking what you use for birth control then (if you are using something)? I am a worry wart about condoms breaking and in the past preferred to be on the pill too. Now that seems not to be an option anymore.

Aren't there non-hormonal IUDs? Dr.B told me I could use anything non hormonal. I decided on doing half the pull and pray method. I'll just be doing the praying part

Hmm... non hormonal IUD? Never heard of that. Google here I come.
Thank you girls for helping me out. I am due to go to my GYN, but I find it helpful to have a clue about what I want or need to talk about before I bring things up to him.

Just looked it up on google. I did hear of this from my friend, just didn't remember the name of it. She said that it doesn't work so well for women who have never been pregnant bc they tend to expel it. (I have never been pregnant).

Ohh ok I know nothing about it other than that it exists. I'd try googling "non hormonal birth control" and see what comes up.
eta: I just did some googling myself out of curiosity and I'm sorry but .. female condom?? I have heard of those of course.. but I have yet to find anyone who has actually used one of those

MTHFR ? from an old poster
I have MTHFR (2 copies of the C one) and have been on the pill in the past. But I have no other clotting issues. I'm currently pg but looking into Paragard (hormone free iud) for the future. I spoke to my dr briefly about it and she said that she thinks it's a great option for me. I was looking into hormone free just because I'm sick of the pill/hormones, not due to clotting factors.
