Thank You for gifts WWYD?

I live out of state from my nieces and nephews, but I always send them gifts for their little ones for Birthdays, Christmas. Is it too much to expect a Thank You from the mother of one. Yes she works full time and has 1 2 year old, I understand that, but I also had kids and worked. I always made it a point to call and Thank who ever sent a gift to my child. Family says oh what is the big deal, but it irks me. WWYD?

I would expect a phone call thanking me for the gift.

Thank you for your response. I hate to not send him a gift anymore, but it really irks me. I will have to see what I do for is birthday. Just do not want to be a jerk and hate thatit is expected to send a gift and not get a thank you.

if someone sends a gift for ds yes I do send a thank you....

Thank you for your responses. Just annoyed that I take the time to find out what he likes and buy it and no recognition it was received. I know he go the gift because I had tracking on it.
Oh well nothing I can do now about it.

I don't have kids but have sent gifts to relatives kids.....I always talk to the kids and they say thank you, if not one of my aunts/cousins - the parent will call and say "oh so-n-so loved x y and z"


I don't think a thank you card is needed but at least a phone call.

I would probably stop sending the gifts.

I always call and put my children on the phone to say thank you for their gifts... She should have done the same, it's only basic manners, no?

I would love to stop sending gifts to him, but here is my dilemna I have 5 great nieces and nephews, if I stop one is it ok to send the others? I hate being petty to a child but he is going to never learn to say thank you if he is not taught.

I don't expect a TY card but a phone call would be nice.

The child is 2? The mother should be thanking you but I couldn't penalize the child at this point. I would keep them on my gift list and hope for the best when the child gets a little older.

I am going through something similar at this point - sent gifts to 6 different out of state cousins, not a thank you from one of them! Or from my brother's girlfriend either.

i am a fairly new mom and always follow up with a written than you or a phone call when dd gets gifts.
i would talk to their mother about it . they should be learning the correct way of receiving things.
or the next gift send a box of thank you notes.

There should be some follow up whether it is a phone call, an email or a note.
