Thank you! For all you advice
Hi everyone. Alot of you probably remember me. Havent been on here since October. My screen name was Lara&aidansmommy. Ive suffered from anxiety in the past. Well its come back and its kicking my ass. Im back on zoloft. But my appetite sucks. Im losing to much weight. Can anyone please help me to tell me what to eat to start gaining weight back. My appetite is pretty much gone from my nerves so im at at loss here. Anything in particular thats high in calories that i can eat maybe lil portions throughout the day. If anyone can suggest something id be so grateful.

Re: Need help. Please
Hi, welcome back. I'm sorry you are going through this.
Can you ask your doctor about seeing a nutritionist?
In the meantime, when I was having problems gaining weight a million years ago, I was told by my nutritionist to eat small, frequent meals and to make sure they had a lot of healthy fats.
Avocado Coconut oil- you can cook scrambled eggs in it, etc Olive oil Cheese Nuts Full fat Greek yogurt Eggs
Lots of protein
What about milkshakes/smoothies? Might be easier to drink your calories if you are feeling anxious. They also have weight gain shakes but they are gross. Making your own with some protein powder, milk, yogurt and fruit is way better tasting.
Good luck, I hope you feel better soon.

Welcome back! I'm sorry to hear you're going through this. Talk to your doctor! I think healthy fats are a good idea. You don't have to consume much to bump up the calories and fat content. Glad you're back and I hope you feel better!

Re: Need help. Please
This happens to me when I am super stressed and my anxiety ramps up. For me, when I force food down anyway, it just makes me sick to my stomach. Protein shakes really help. I was doing two a day at one point and it stopped the weight loss.
I hope you feel better

Cheese and crackers, milk shakes, peanut butter. You could carry a sleeve of crackers with you and eat them slowly or get snack packs of peanut butter crackers. Meal replacement shakes (in addition to food). Drinking whole milk with your meal or as a snack too. Welcome back!

Yes I forgot about peanut butter! That's high in calories and protein as well. If you can stomach it. I know sometimes when I don't feel like eating I gag on PB

I went through the same exact thing. Honestly, the only thing that helped me was getting a good handle on my medication levels and the anxiety itself. It was only then I was able to eat anything.
But I do agree with the PP on food ideas. Nibbling on anything is better than nothing at all.
I've been where you are, it awful and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Always here to chat!!

How long have you been on Zoloft? One of the side effects is usually weight gain, so I'm surprised to hear this. It does take a good while to work, so hang in there until it does. If not, maybe ask for Paxil or some other medication?

Might take about 4 weeks to feel the increase in dose. If no better, ask to change meds. I agree with the others, try eating healthy fats like cheese, avocado, nuts. I'm sorry you are feeling this way.

Sorry to hear that you are experiencing this. I would ask your doctor to switch to a different antidepressant/anxiety medicine. Zoloft is in a class of drugs called SSRI's (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors) and for some reason, these drugs sometimes have an impact on the functioning of the hypothalamus which controls hunger. SNRI's (selective norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors) often work just as well and tend to not impact the hypothalamus. Cymbalta and Effexor XR are the 2 most commonly prescribed SNRI's. Good luck!
