I've only been to San Antonio as well and it's a nice place to go. There are tons of things to do and it's a nice time.
I DO hear that Austin is great as well and just has a completely different feel and vibe - they are known for their live music and is a younger, more artsy city.

Re: Texas
I would do either San Antonio or Austin before Dallas. IMO they are more geared towards the type of things you'd be looking for as a tourist.

Re: Texas
I love San Antonio my Aunt and Uncle and cousins live there. Love visiting them. They have a lot of fun things to do. Dallas was a nice city (we went for about 4 days when my cousin got married there). I liked it but had more fun in San Antonio which was more touristy in some ways and great mexican food and markets, etc.

Re: Texas
AUSTIN! There is so much to do and it's beautiful. You can also take a day trip to Fredricksburg, which is super cute! San Antonio is nice, but not worth a separate trip in my opinion. You could easily do both if you are renting a car. If you do go to San Antonio stay on the riverwalk. If you do Austin we stayed at the Driskill which was beautiful, but pricey. I think their breakfast or brunch is worth a trip even if you don't stay there.
Dallas doesn't compare to either. It's a fun city, but not worth a whole vacation.
