Tests after due date - Bio Physical Feedback and non Stress - what are they?
I am due Sunday, and the dr said that if this guy isn't on his way by then, then Monday I will have some tests to measure fluids and such for me and the baby... I believe he said bio physical and definitely a non stress.
Can anyone just tell me what these tests or others that are done to access after the due date might entail?
Thanks.

I had one a couple days after my due date. At my appt I had a sono to measure the baby and my fluid...then they put 2 things on my belly-i think one measured the babies heart rate and the other was measuring contractions or something I am not sure exactly but a sheet printed out and they showed the dr and that was it.

theyll do an ultrasound to make sure the fluid in the babys sac arent too low.
The NST measures the baby's heart rate while the baby is resting and as it moves around. Typically the baby should be moving around and the heart rate will increase, if the baby is in any type of distress that's how they decide to get the baby out. If the baby is fine, they will prob wait a few more days or decide an induction won't harm the baby.
I've had a few of these done bc my baby was measuring small for a few weeks and they wanted to make sure he was ok....and he is!
Good Luck...

A biophysical is a just a regular sono really. They will measure fluid, they will look at the baby's heart, position, blood flow through the umbilical cord.

Re: Tests after due date - Bio Physical Feedback and non Stress - what are they?
the reason for these test is to ensure baby's heart rate is what it should be.
Once a pregnancy has surpassed the 40 week gestation period, doctors closely monitor the mother for signs of placental deterioration. Towards the end of pregnancy calcium is deposited on the walls of blood vessels and proteins are deposited on the surface of the placenta, which changes the placenta. This limits the blood flow through the placenta and ultimately leads to placental insufficiency and the baby is no longer properly nourished.
