Test results

I called my dr office for my glucose results and they said they couldn't release them to me without the dr's approval. Is this normal because now I'm freaking out lol! It's my test results why cant they just say pass or not?

Plus what really irks me is the results came in yesterday and they didn't call me and now I have to wait for the dr to be free blah!!!!!!

Whoops let me clarify...I called to see if I passed the one hr because I had a hard time scheduling it so if I need the 3 I need to get on it. when I called the dr the front desk said they can't release the results without the dr's permission. So now I have to wait for the dr to eventually call me back

They probably want the DR to sign off on the results before they give them to you just as a precaution Chat Icon

Re: Test results

Yes it's totally normal for ANY doctors office to release results of ANY test (not just for OB's). There are liability issues at hand - if you tell a patient (after looking at the results that appear normal) that it's normal and there's one teeny thing that wasn't, and something happens it's the doctor's license... It sucks, I know, but until the doctor has reviewed and signed off on the results, nothing can be disclosed.
