Termintes On Lawn After Fertilizing?
I'm so grossed out!!! Our front yard is COVERED in termites. There are thousands of them!!! They are only in the front, which we had fertilized yesterday. Is that normal?!

Are you sure they're termites and not something else? I've never heard of this either. I did a quick google search and came up with nothing.

that's termites! my first post says that termites have a thicker body than flying ants-different antenas too

Maybe they were the other one..I don't know!! They look the same to me!  We sprayed some outdoor insect stuff, and turned on the sprinklers and they seem to be gone. I'm going to check in the morning, but if they are back, I'll call the landlord and he can take care of it!!

FYI - Termites like moist soil.....esp near wood! They dig underground and make tunnels.
I know this b/c we had tunnels in our lawn and we had to have an exterminator place these round traps around the perimeter of the home to keep them away from entering the house.

Summer, I just had to tell you that this post gave me the most horrible dreams last night! I dreamt that these nasty little suckers were getting in my house and all landing on our bed while we were sleeping

citronella ants?
we had a swarm once and we thought they were termintes. we saved one in a jar and showed to our exterminator. He said that they were citronella ants / bugs and that they swarm once a year, but they are harmless to your home.

We had a termite sworm the same day and this happened to us last year. Terminex etc so there is nothing more we can do besides the traps we have around the house.
There is a tunnel underground that can run the whole length of our block.
With all the rain we had the other day and then the warm weather, it is a perfect time for them to emerge
We just stay inside and close all the windows so they can't come in.

we just had a swarm of winged ants in our yard this weekend. I freaked out too, but someone told me that termites don't like to come out of wood? anyway, when we sprayed them, we could see that they were winged ants
