Temper temper temper
I think I have to give myself a time out...
Jared is out of control. I don't know what has gotten into him lately but whatever it is, it's getting worse. He has temper tantrums for everything.
When he finishes his bottle, he throws it and screams, jerking himself back. When we're playing together, he'll take a toy and throw it and scream, jerking himself backwards. I wipe his face...same reaction, when I'm feeding him with the spoon..same reaction. I was in the store buying something and he was holding a pack of pens. I took the pens away and gave them to the girl to ring up...same reaction. These tantrums are short lived, they only last a minute...but he's driving me crazy!!
Is this normal 10-11 month old behavior? Is it because he's teething?
Calgon..take me away....

Re: Temper temper temper
oh my dear, sadly to say it gets worse.
My daughter is the same way but since she a little bit older I put her in a corner and call time out.
hang in there, you are definitely not alone.

Re: Temper temper temper
totally normal, try to give as little reaction as possible and just say "no" once.
imagine, I have a 6yo, 3yo, and 8 month old all with the same tantrums as Jared, no wonder I have a glass of wine each night

Re: Temper temper temper
Perfectly normal behavior, unfortunately. He's now decided that he's the boss... he's independent and doesn't need you anymore. And yes, it does get worse.
He'll start to get used to "no" and it will work... some of the time.
My toddler now calls his own timeouts. If he pushes his brother down (from a seated position) he says "1, 2, 3 timeout" and runs to his room.

I have to agree! My almost 8 year old still has tantrums every once in a while-they are different though but are still there! I don't they ever end-lol!!

Me too, it seems that at about 11 months Alex started getting a huge temper. Forget it if he is tired. Yesterday he was smashing the star shape against the shape sorter because he couldn't get it in. He has quite the temper too. Now he is refusing to eat anything I put in front of him. I know it is going to get worse before it gets better but it is frustrating.

Abby has been getting like this at dinner time. It is very stressful. I am hoping that it is just a stage.

Re: Temper temper temper
DD is 18 months and ****** off! Sure she looks sweet, but the terrible twos are here early. I can relate to you. These little outbursts are starting to become too frequent. ( Sometimes I think it's kind of funny, though )

Re: Temper temper temper
Andrew started the same thing at Jared's age and he still has those fits. Except now he also hits when he doesn't get his way and then he laughs if he's reprimanded

Re: Temper temper temper
Thanks everyone...I wanted to seriously rip my hair out yesterday. I also noticed that he's not eating like he used to...in fact, he sometimes refuses his dinner.

Alex is refusing almost everything he used to eat. I can only get him to eat ravioli with tomato sauce and Gerber mashed potatoes.

I am so glad to hear that we are not the only ones with feeding issues. Abby used to be such a good eater and now she will only eat puffs, yogurt and fruit. I try and mix pasta or little pieces of meat on her tray with the puffs but the stinker picks them out and throws them on the ground. She is a smart cookie but driving me crazy. Not sure how to fix this problem. Any ideas?

Re: Temper temper temper
My ped says its a phase and to feed him what he will eat. Keep offering a variety of things. That is what I am trying. It isn't working to well. I would be open to anything.
