Teaching your toddler / pre schooler other languages

Hi, Do any of you moms teach your kids a language other than the one mainly spoken at home? If so do you have any DVD's to recommend?

I guess this is mostly for households where english is the language spoken by both parents and you just want your child to learn another language.

Both DH and I speak english as our language and that is what DD speaks. I feel like I would like her to learn spanish as she will be at school etc with kids who speak spanish and they say its better to expose them sooner than later.

I looked on amazon and could only find one DVD.

TIA

Re: Teaching your toddler / pre schooler other languages

We bought my DS the Whistlefritz dvds. He loves them and has definitely picked up some spanish. It's obviously not enough for him to be fluent, but I think it's a good introduction. The dvds are totally in spanish so he is immersed in the language while watching. The only downside is that there are only two dvds and one music cd. There is a third dvd coming soon and I will purchase it as my DS does really love them.

I also get some of his favorite story books in spanish from the library. I would like him to to have more exposure, so I am looking for some kind of program, too.

I think they are also available on Amazon.

I speak with Ale almost exclusively in Spanish.

In addition we take 2 Spanish classes a week - like Mommy & Me but in Spanish. Most of the kids don't hear Spanish at home but they learn so much - this is definitely the time to do it!!

We go to:

www.spanishallyear.com and

www.spanishimmersionworkshop.com

They are both awesome programs.
