Re: Teach me
BH are like contractions that are getting you ready for labor - basically you will feel your belly tighten like a rock. You will know the difference from BH to real contractions as contractions are more painful and BH are just uncomfortable.
Eta- you will get them in your 2nd and 3rd trimester and I don't know if everyone gets them.

Re: Teach me
They are practice contractions. Most of the time they are painless, but they can be painful or uncomfortable sometimes. They can be out of the blue or they may be brought on by change in position (like getting out of a car).
I didnt have any with my first pregnancy. With my second, I had them late third tri and with my third, they started in my second tri and I had them ALL the time.

Re: Teach me
Would anyone explain them as a burning sensation???
I am 37 weeks today and when my belly tightens up, it feels like a burning sensation.
I have a doc appt tonight so I am going to ask, but just curious if that is normal???

Teach me
I apparently had contractions toward the end of my pregnancy and had no clue. I was induced because DS still didn't want to come out at 41w. Then they suspected I was going to have to have a C-section so I had an epidural immediately. Only really knew I was having contractions when I was hooked up to monitors and the doctor asked "Didn't you feel that?" But what I felt I thought was the baby kicking. He's like "No you're having contractions!" (H said it like I was an idiot... but how would I know?? Luckily it was one of the doctors in the practice and not my primary OB).
So basically what I thought was just the baby kicking me super hard at the end, was actually contractions. Didn't hurt though.
