Tax estimate on new construction?
Does anyone know if it is possible to take a potential floor plan/blue print for a new house (new construction on an empty plot) to the town to see how much the taxes will be? Any info would be appreciated!

Re: Tax estimate on new build?
Yes. People do it all the time.
In Suffolk, most towns are extremely helpful. Call the Assessor's office first- you may have to make an appointment to get someone knowledgeable to sit down and talk to you.
In Nassau, you have to call the County Assessment Department. They aren't quite as responsive. Best bet is to go down there in person with your plans and see if you can see someone right away. They may have you make an appointment and come back.

We are in Nassau. My husband called and couldn't get anyone on the phone. You are probably right, best to go there. Thanks! I'm wondering how accurate the taxes would be. It's a possibility we will be doing this and I'm scared that we will get one quote, build and get a much higher quote.
