Taunted by Fans Wearing Jessica Simpson Masks, Dallas Cowboys QB Tony Romo Pulls Out a Win
After many blamed his girlfriend Jessica Simpson for his team's loss last Sunday, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo overcame a sore thumb and taunting Carolina Panthers fans Saturday night and pulled out a victory.
The Cowboys' 20-13 win came despite thousands of fans wearing Simpson masks (some even donned blonde wigs), and after a week of controversy following Romo's under-performing game in Dallas attended by a pink-jersey-wearing Simpson. (According to ESPN, Simpson attended Saturday night's game but was not seen on camera.)
In a post-game press conference, Romo discussed the Simpson drama.
"I just put tunnel vision on," he explained. "There's so many distractions about junk sometimes. I felt like the important thing for my team was to get myself into football mode 24/7."
When asked if the media attention had bothered him, Romo said: "I let it roll off my back. It doesn't really bother me. But it hurts me when it hurts the people that are close to you. Some of the journalistic integrity this week was poor in some ways."
Last week, he completed a season-low 13 passes and threw three interceptions, the worst game of his career. On Saturday, Romo completed 28 passes and threw for 257 yards and just one interception.
Simpson's professional performance so far this weekend has not been as impressive. Her latest movie, the romantic comedy Blonde Ambition, was released in just eight theatres and on its opening day
reportedly grossed just $384.

She was a jinx... therefore the taunting begins. Jessica knows nothing about football then shows up at the game with a PINK jersey on just for publicity....I'd have taunted too- I dont like posers!

This was on the news all week. They begged people to download the Jessica and wear it to the game. Too bad Carolina still lost.

See I looked at it as SUPPORTING her bf not as her as a poser. I think she was acting like any other gf, and the fact that people think its HER fault.........give me a break...she is NOT even a PLAYER so HOW in the hellos is it because of her

ITA! I don't know a lot about football, but if my BF was on a team, I would totally go to a game and support him!
People are just quick to blame someone and it just so happends that she was at a game when his team lost......doesn't make it her fault, so stupid.

I don't think she's claiming to know a thing about football.....she was there to see her hottie BF play -
If DH was a professional athlete, I'd be there as much as possible....

Men are all into superstitions. If anything is different on game day and they lose they blame it on that.

if i started dating a football player i would wear his jersey too. I dont think she did anything that most women wouldnt do, regarless of how much football they watched before dating a player.
