tattoo question

Does anyone know if you can tattoo white (or any other color) over an existing black tattoo?

I have a black tribal that i'd like to cover up or change with something else but not sure how i'd go about it.

TIA!

Re: tattoo question

To cover up a tribal the tattoo will be huge....most artist sudgest getting it laser removed a few treatments first, and depending on the size of the tattoo it can be $$$$$

I'm in the middle of having a tatoo removed and its 300 the first 2 and its been 250 for all the other treatments. .. HTh

Re: tattoo question

I have white in my tatto over color as an accent but not for covering up. not sure that would look right.

eta: my dh said he read somewhere that they sell something you can use at home to put on a tatoo and it supposely fades the tattoo. No clue if it actually works.

ug, no desire to try and get it removed, i'll keep it as is rather than do that.
i was just thinking the other day that i'd much rather have a different design than what i have.
I don't mind getting something bigger over it if i have to - i just wasn't sure exactly how a cover up worked on an existing all black tattoo, or if its even possible.
i guess i'll go into the shop that did my last one and ask them what they recommend.
thanks!

He's probably thinking of Wrecking Balm:

I wouldn't put much faith in it actually doing anything, though...
